The new book by Soho House featuring Bert & May
‘Cool is what we try to avoid'
says Chris Glass, Soho House’s European membership director. Instead, the group wants to create an atmosphere that is immune to trends. Evening Standard. 02.02.16
I visited Berlin this year for the first time, and the city was über everything, yes parts of it were ‘cool’, but that was just one ingredient mixed into the heady cocktail that is Berlin - the others being swanky, hipster, gruff, bossy, and reckless.
So no surprise then that the equally über Soho House chose Berlin for one of it’s European bases, and with their effortlessly elegant style, Bert & May were an obvious choice for the interior - as they share the same aesthetic and love for natural materials and simple elegance.
About Bert & May
Bert & May was founded in Spain in 2004 by former barrister Lee Thornley and the brand has quickly established into a bespoke and specialist supplier of handmade artisan tiles, engineered wood, bathrooms, and kitchens.
About The Morning, Noon, Night
‘I’ve been astonished by the number of people who went out and bought the first book, Eat, Drink, Nap, which really set out to explain our founding principles,’ says Soho House founder Nick Jones. ‘Since that was published, we’ve built Soho Farmhouse on 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside, transformed a former belt factory in Chicago, reimagined a 140-year-old palazzo in Istanbul and restored the shell of a listed Georgian building in London's Soho.
The new book by Soho House is a 300-page, cloth-bound book inviting readers behind the scenes at the Houses – taking you through the day from the second you wake up to the moment you go to bed. The book includes features like how to make a vegan breakfast and how to create the perfect bedroom, with plenty of inspirational new imagery. Interior design, food and drink take centre stage, and with more than 20 years of design experience behind them, Soho House’s experts offer impactful insights into House style, including tips on their favourite sources and suppliers – including Bert & May, of course.
